Judge Lodge was born in 1932 and is a native of Minnesota. After completing law school at the University of Michigan School of Law he came to California to commence the practice of law.

Judge Lodge began his career on the bench as a Justice Court Judge on September 2, 1958. Thereafter he became a Municipal Court Judge and now serves as a Superior Court Judge in Santa Barbara South County.
