Born June 14, 1939 in Butler, Pennsylvania

Attended Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA (1957-58) and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA (1962-1965)
B.A. Duquesne University, 1965; Math major, English minor;
J.D. Duquesne University, 1968;
Editor-in-Chief, JURIS, the law school news magazine 1967-68;
University of California, Santa Barbara - Certificate in Accounting 1990.

Admitted to Bar in Pennsylvania 1968, including state and federal courts;
Served as Asst. General Counsel of Housing Authority of City of Pittsburgh and as Research Associate with Pennsylvania Crime Commission;
Practiced criminal and civil trial work in Pennsylvania.

Moved to California in January 1972;
Admitted to California Bar, including state and federal courts, in June 1972;
Admitted to practice before U.S. Supreme Court in 1977;
Joined law firm of Archbald & Spray in April 1975 and became a partner in June 1979.

Served as Editor of “The Quibbler,” from 1974-1979;
Served on Board of Directors of The Barristers Club of Santa Barbara from 1974-1976 and as President during the year 1975-1976;

Served as Director of Santa Barbara County Bar Association from 1980-1982:

Member of Santa Barbara County Bar Association; American Board of Trial Advocates;

Served as an arbitrator in the local Municipal and Superior Courts, as well as in Ventura County; served as Judge Pro Tem for settlement conferences in Santa Barbara Superior Court;

Appointed to Santa Barbara Superior Court Bench November 1997.
