Case #1186848: James Petrovich et al vs Santa Barbara County etc et al On January 10, 2006 the Court found that a forensic audit by an independent auditor was necessary for an accurate evaluation of the claims raised by plaintiffs' complaint regarding the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Council. After input from the parties, the Court appointed Laura S. Ciontea of the accounting firm of Damitz, Brooks, Nightingale, Turner & Morrisset, to perform the forensic audit of the books and records of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Council for the years 2004 and 2005 and such other records of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Council as the forensic accountant considered necessary for an accurate evaluation of the claims raised in plaintiffs' complaint and to render a report relative to the facts or matter as to which expert evidence was required. The details of the assignment were set out in a Court Order dated January 30, 2006. Certain discovery procedures were stayed pending completion and release of the report. On April 27, 2006 after Court approved extensions of time to complete the investigation, the Final Report per the Order Appointing Auditor was filed and released to the public. The Court has utilized its award-winning Website (ranked #1 court website in the
United States in 2005 by Justice Served), to disseminate this information to the
