Q: IS THE CLERK'S OFFICE OPEN FOR BUSINESS?

A: Santa Barbara County Superior Court clerk's offices are open to the public. Hours of operation for the Records Department at public windows is limited to 8:00am to 12:00pm, Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays. Per Administrative Order issued 1/18/2022, all persons entering a court facility must wear a face mask that fits securely and snugly over the nose and mouth. Wearing of a face mask with a valve, neck gaiter, bandana, or handkerchief shall not be used.

Q: HOW CAN I OBTAIN COPIES OF COURT RECORDS?

A: Visit the Records page on the Court's website at https://www.sbcourts.org/dv/records.shtm for details on how to submit a request for copies of court records.

Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY REQUEST FOR COURT RECORDS TO BE PROCESSED?

A: It may take approximately 14 business days for a request for copies of court records to be processed.

Q: CAN I REMOTELY SEARCH FOR COURT RECORDS?

A: Please visit the Court's website at https://www.sbcourts.org/os/ind/index.php for further information.

The Public Portal will provide access to the following:

• Displays a register of actions for non-confidential or non-sealed cases in the following case types: Civil, Criminal, Family Law, Probate, Small Claims, and Traffic
  
• Allows login access to registered attorney and justice partner users
  

• Online payment portlet for traffic and criminal cases.
  

The Civil Portal will provide access to the following:

• Allows non-registered user access to a register of actions, including non-confidential or non-sealed document images, in Civil cases as allowable per California Rules of Court, rule 2.503(b)
• Family Law and Probate cases are not accessible on the Civil Portal. Please access the Public Portal for registers of action of non-confidential or non-sealed Family Law or Probate cases.
