COVID-19 Juvenile FAQ

Juvenile: COVID-19 FAQ

Facial coverings are required upon entering juvenile court. People entering the lobby will need to wash their hands before entering court.

The Juvenile Court is open to the public. Per Administrative Order issued 1/18/2022, all persons entering a court facility must wear a face mask that fits securely and snugly over the nose and mouth. Wearing of a face mask with a valve, neck gaiter, bandana, or handkerchief shall not be used. In order to obtain information from a court case file you must have a valid photo identification and be a party to the case.

Until further notice, juvenile matters set for hearing in Santa Barbara have been moved to Santa Maria.

Inquiries can be made by calling (805) 614-6587 between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm or at SMJUV@sbcourts.org. Contact your attorney to find out your court date. If you/your child do not have an attorney, contact the Santa Barbara County Juvenile Probation Department to find out your court date. Some hearings cannot be continued, but presence of the minor is waived. The minor must remain in contact with his/her attorney or the Santa Barbara County Juvenile Probation Department.

The Juvenile Court is conducting remote hearings using either CourtCall (telephonic fee applies) or Zoom video and audio conferencing. For more information about appearing by Zoom, please visit: https://www.sbcourts.org/gi/notices/Zoom_InstructionsJUV.pdf
